Tin Soldier in the Labyrinth - Recital by Zsófi Persányi and Olivér Pajor

The concert, entitled Tin Soldier in the Labyrinth, will feature piano works by contemporary Hungarian composers, including György Kurtág, who will soon turn 100.
It is often said of Kurtág's cycle Games that these smaller-scale piano pieces can be understood as "shavings" created during the composition of his large-scale works, a kind of documentation of the composer's thinking and search for a path. Inspired by this idea, and also organised around the topos of the journey and the game, the pieces of László Sándor and Ákos Zarándy will be played alongside the booklet Games 5., which forms the backbone of the program, and which is structured in several blocks between the Zarándy and Sándor pieces.

The concert will feature two young pianists, Olivér Pajor and Zsófi Persányi. Both are master students at the Academy of Music.
Olivér Pajor is prize-winner of several international competitions: Vítězslav Novák Piano Competition's (2022) 2nd prize-winner and Debussy Special Prize-winner, and the Pianissimo Piano Competition's (2023) 1st prize-winner.
Zsófi Persányi is particularly interested in presenting repertoire written from the 1900s to the present day and in creating interdisciplinary, unconventional collaborations and concerts. She is the recipient of the Zoltán Kocsis Prize in 2025, the New National Excellence Programme Scholarship in 2022 and 3rd prize winner at the 2019 International Béla Bartók Piano Competition.
