The title refers to image-patterns of summer flowers and vegetation of the Northern Canadian tundra when viewed from a low-flying aircraft. Some characteristic titles among the eleven movements include two fast yet softly scurrying Notturnos, a Funeral-banal, a Gigue, a Metagigue, a Sarabande and even a Gigue-bande!
