BFTZ172 - Concert by the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra
17 November 2025, 07:30 pm.
Liszt Academy - Grand Hall
1061 Budapest, Liszt Ferenc tér 8.
Gábor Hontvári Junior Prima Prize-winning young conductor has been chosen by the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra to conduct their 172nd festive concert. The ensemble, founded by Ferenc Erkel, pays tribute to two emblematic composers who were both closely associated with the orchestra. In the Suite in F-sharp minor, the voices gently blend together in a work of virtuoso orchestration of great variety, evoking the atmosphere of an opera house. The concert, which commemorates the first concert in 1853, is a tradition that includes a new composition, this year for the first time an orchestral arrangement of Levente Gyöngyösi’s song written in 2015. Three geniuses, three different colours at a festive concert by the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, the first symphony orchestra in Hungary.
