Bertalan Hock was born in Budapest in 1953. He studied organ at the Music Academy with Ferenc Gergely from where he graduated in 1980. He then undertook further studies at the Weimar Music College. Since 1976 he has been the organist of the Matthias Church in Budapest, and since 1990 organ teacher at the György Solti music school. He gives regular recitals both in Hungary and abroad. He is also a scholar and is an expert on the restoration of classic organs. He founded the Sunday organ concert series at the Matthias Church and remains its artistic director. Bertalan Hock has also released several CDs.
