Csalog Gábor
Composer
When he was eleven, he was accepted to the Class of Specially Gifted Pupils at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. Among his teachers were Erna Czövek, Dezső Ránki, Zoltán Kocsis, György Kurtág, Pál Kadosa and András Schiff.
He was a postgraduate student with György Sebők in the U.S. at the Indiana University and assistant to professor Sebők for two years.
He often plays contemporary music, he even has direct work contact with several Hungarian composers, including László Sáry and Gyula Csapó. He has studied and worked with György Kurtág since 1980, often performing and premiering his pieces. In recent years he has also regularly assisted György Kurtág at his chamber music courses in Hungary.
Besides giving concerts in most European countries, recording is increasingly important for him. From among his extensive repertoire he frequently performs pieces of lesser heard ones in his programme. He is editor for Könemann Music Budapest for a new urtext edition of the complete Chopin piano works. He teaches at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music and at the Béla Bartók Conservatory.
