After his piano studies at a music school, he was a student of Dr. Ervin Major at the faculty of composing music at the Bartók Béla Vocational School of Music, while - at the same time - he also played as a piano escort in the Vasas Central Art Ensemble, and composed accompanying music for folk dance choreographies. Between 1958 and 1962, he studied composing music as a student of Ferenc Szabó at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. In 1962, he received a chorus master diploma as a student of Zoltán Vásárhelyi.
From 1964 to 1999, he was a chorus director at the Hungarian State Opera House, and - between 1985 and 1989 - the head of the music department at the Hungarian Dance Academy.

Several of his works have been performed by the Budafok Youth Orchestra (today: Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra) and the Budafok Chamber Choir. The primary performer of his works for mixed choir is the Csili Chamber Choir, while some of his choruses have been recorded by the Hungarian Radio Choir. In the recent years, he has mainly been occupied by writing four-handed, double-piano as well as violin-viola and violin-piano compositions (Family Music series).
